| "Drive to Thrive" is the
vision of the Presbytery of East Iowa to have each of the 83
churches grow spiritually and become vital to their community
and the world by proclaiming in new ways Christ's love for all
and God's Lordship over all creation.
It encourages elders to embrace their role as the spiritual
leaders of the church and become the catalyst for systemic
change. It encourages and trains pastors to be visionary
leaders. It encourages our churches to make the changes
necessary to turn around the culture of plateaued and declining
churches. When churches, "Drive to Thrive",
they are moving beyond a mission statement. They are
making a concrete commitment to engage people at their point
of need and to minister to their communities. They are
active in a visioning process and in the implementation of
change. Thriving churches are passionate and joyful
about their relationship to God and how this gets lived out
